Palin campaigns in Maine
Wrapping up her first campaign swing through New England, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin told voters in Maine this morning that they face a stark choice on Nov. 4.
It's a choice between a candidate -- Democrat Barack Obama -- who tolerates voter fraud and one -- her running mate John McCain -- who doesn't, she said, referring to the brewing controversy over ACORN, a liberal activist group under investigation for submitting false voter registration cards. McCain raised the issue during Wednesday night's debate; Obama said his campaign has no ties with ACORN, though he represented them in a voting rights case in Chicago years ago.
The election is a choice between "inspiring words" -- repeating a put-down of Obama -- and insipring and trustworthy deeds -- praising McCain, Palin told a crowd at Bangor International Airport.
Palin also riffed off perhaps McCain's best moment from the debate, when he declared that he wasn't President Bush, though Democrats say he would continue Bush's policies.
"They'd rather run against the current administration," she said. "If he wanted to run against George Bush, he had his chance four years ago. America knows John McCain is his own man."

Sarah - late breaking news - you've just been given another "Four Pinnochio's" rating by Washington Post's Fact Check on your statement that you were completely cleared for any abuse of power or ethics violation by the Alaska Legislature on Troopergate.
You have the most Four Pinnochios of any candidate - - why should we believe a word you say?
Watch out for those helicopters.....hide all the moose.
When Gov. Palin issues her irresponsible screed of falsehoods, the reporting of these instances, need to hold her accountable, as in when she accuses Obama tolerating "voter fraud" while McCain doenn't, I think it is fair to underscore that NOBODY tolerates fraud. Both are serious candidates and neither would ever condone "voter fraud" and to make any insinuations and aspersions as such is beyond reality. In fact seeing a list of false names on a registration list is not the same as seeing false votes. There is a big difference. I don't think ANY precinct officer would allow Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck to cast their vote.
Oh, Palin is still in the beautiful "Northwest"?
All this woman do is attack, and attack, and attack, putting blame on others. I had hopes for this woman on the beggining... but all I've seen her do is attack the other candidate, she barely speaks about her campaign's policies, she just comes up with new lies and terrorism related material. Once I saw the word terrorist come up again on a republican's campaign, I decided I didn't wanted to vote for them. I wanted to vote for Mccain though... but his current health status, and judgement on picking this liar for a vice president... I'm not sure I want to vote for Mccian anymore, at least Obama responds his answers...
Interesting that they sent her to Maine for a rally on the same day the campaign is announcing it's pulling out of Maine. Seems they're sending her to places she can't do any additional harm.
Palin is full of hatred and revenge. There are several other complaints filed in Alaska even before she was nominated. Not to mention her ignorance. She is a national JOKE!
It's clear that the Rove/McCain machine sent her to Maine to capture the jackpine savage vote, the functionally illiterate, meth-cookin', confederate flag-sportin', deer-poachin', sled-ridin' northern types, who feel that they have somehow been betrayed by the Democrats (especially Rep Mike Michaud), the very people who tried to save their good paying mill jobs, but couldn't fight the dollar an hour , twelve hour day workers in south America. Palin's populism is strikingly like that of the pre Reich Germany. I know it's a dangerous comparison, but I see it all too clearly. I see these people at the gas pump and at school, in the grocery store, at the hardware store. They believe Obama is an Arab, a Muslim and will "hand over the country to the niggers and fags and communists", as one guy just pontificated as he gassed up his road-rage machine. It angers me that, while Mc Cain correctly called the woman on the carpet in Minnesota a week ago for this kind of comment, Palin seems to encourage this angry-mob behavior, thriving on the lowest common denominator element of the Republican base, and does nothing to repudiate it. She is flat out dangerous, and I couldn't care less that she's good looking. This is not a Playmate of the Month contest, it's the presidential election. Woe unto all of us if we let this monster in office.
"Compliance with the code of ethics is not optional" is one of the best lines that I have read, and so very true. I question how Sarah Palin can show her face to the great people of Alaska. How can she look them in the eye? How can the people of Alaska ever trust her again? How can she face her family, her friends and her supporters? How can Sarah Palin smile and pretend that she has not told so many, many, many lies to the American People but worst to the people of Alaska. Sarah Palin should consider removing her name from the GOP ticket and stepping down as the Governor of Alaska. But she will not for she adores the crowds and the lights of Hollywood on her. But the bottom line is that one is ethical or one is not ethical and now it has been proven that not only is Sarah Palin not ethical she is attempting to encourage hate among the crowds as she continues to spew her lies. Perhaps her pastor should cast her into the water to see if she floats or sinks.
Even the European community thinks she is a joke. What purpose would she serve when she is internationally panned. Big mistake on McCain's part. Even if I wasn't already decided on Obama, I wouldn't vote for McCain because of her apparent ineptitude.
J.C.,
Well said. If this country wants to move forward and have real change, hopefully in some of the attitudes you mentioned, we need someone other than her. Her rhetoric is extremely dangerous, and in some arenas could turn against her just as dangerously.
My goodness you folks are nasty. Most of you suffer from the "Poor ole me" syndrome. Get an education and a job, and get off your a... Stop waiting for someone to spread the wealth! Your whining is annoying to those in the higher tax brackets.
And Duval Patrick didn't lie???? Come out of you dream states...you actually believe all the lies you read in the Globe and see on local TV? Good luck to you all....when the actual working tax payers leave the socialist states who will support all these wonderful programs ---all that great inclusion....except of course if you actually think for yourself and disagree...then we are labeled as racist, or stupid or worse...common
