Palin doesn't get hometown support
Sarah Palin's hometown newspaper has endorsed Democrat Barack Obama, with some slaps at Palin's running mate John McCain and at her.
The Anchorage Daily News says that the Alaska governor's selection as the GOP vice presidential nominee is a historic event, but doesn't outweigh that Obama is a better candidate.
"Gov. Palin's nomination clearly alters the landscape for Alaskans as we survey this race for the presidency -- but it does not overwhelm all other judgment. The election, after all is said and done, is not about Sarah Palin, and our sober view is that her running mate, Sen. John McCain, is the wrong choice for president at this critical time for our nation," the endorsement says. "Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee, brings far more promise to the office. In a time of grave economic crisis, he displays thoughtful analysis, enlists wise counsel and operates with a cool, steady hand. The same cannot be said of Sen. McCain."
The Daily News also offers Palin only mixed reviews for her performance as the vice presidential nominee, saying she would be too "risky" as the No. 2.
"Gov. Palin has shown the country why she has been so successful in her young political career. Passionate, charismatic and indefatigable, she draws huge crowds and sows excitement in her wake. She has made it clear she's a force to be reckoned with, and you can be sure politicians and political professionals across the country have taken note. Her future, in Alaska and on the national stage, seems certain to be played out in the limelight," the editorial says.
"Yet despite her formidable gifts, few who have worked closely with the governor would argue she is truly ready to assume command of the most important, powerful nation on earth. To step in and juggle the demands of an economic meltdown, two deadly wars and a deteriorating climate crisis would stretch the governor beyond her range. Like picking Sen. McCain for president, putting her one 72-year-old heartbeat from the leadership of the free world is just too risky at this time."

What a pity that they cannot recognize their hometown treasure! But of course, it appears to be the liberal main street media at work once more!! Shame of them.
Looks like it might be a long, cold winter back in the 'ol hometown for the Neiman Marcus/Saks hockey mom.
They are being very kind to Palin in their endorsement of Obama. They really could have nailed her to the wall if they wanted to. Palin's approval rating was a joke. Alaskan's supported her while she shared some of the wealth with them (socialism? LOL), but now they are finding out how corrupt she is and most are no longer supporting her.
Since Palin was chosen, I have been reading the Anchorage Daily News and the comments from some of their citizens. Most can't stand Sarah Palin.
And Obama is ready. Oh my God, people are crazy. Evidently the editor of the Anchorage Daily News hasn't read The Case Against Obama or any other information about this man. He is not a reformer, he is in bed with special interest groups, lobbyists, activists, radicals, you name it and what does the media get crazy about. The fact that the RNP wants their candidate to look as good as the opponents on stage. The only difference is she didn't get her salary doubled when when got nominated, nor did a million dollar windfall hit any of her little pet projects when she got nominated like Michelle Obama who can afford her expensive wardrobe. Man this country is going to hell in a handbasket. Talk about stupid stupid stupid. And any one who is proud to have Nancy Puke as speaker of the house needs to have their heads examined. There is nothing kind, charismatic, reforming, fair, intelligent, or any of the above that you can identify with her.
I am so tried of people acting like John McCAIN IS dying. He is healthy and planning on living a long while. They should be more worried abotu know and not what will happen if something happens to John McCain. He is ready to lead. Go John and Sara. You have my vote!!!

Uh, where have you been the last 8 years? We're not "going," we're already there.
So much for her mythical 90% approval rating. It's as bogus as everything she claims. Bridge to Nowhere, firing cops, charging rape victims, seeing Russia. She is a vapid pageant loser from kooky churches who can't raise a decent daughter.
AK won't back Palin but Al Qaeda will.
“Al Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election,” read a commentary on a password-protected Islamist Web site that is closely linked to Al Qaeda and often disseminates the group’s propaganda.
An American president who keeps troops in Iraq indefinitely, fulminates about Islamic terrorism, inclines toward military solutions and antagonizes other nations is an excellent recruiting tool. In contrast, an African-American president with a Muslim grandfather and a penchant for building bridges rather than blowing them up would give Al Qaeda recruiters fits.
