A popular vote majority for Obama?
We'll know for sure later tonight, but there are few final polls predicting the outcome of the presidential race.
George Washington University's Battleground Poll, which claims to have had the most accurate national poll in 1992, 1996, and 2004, just issued its final version.
Celinda Lake, the Democratic part of the pollster team, predicts the popular vote nationally at Barack Obama, 51.5 percent; John McCain, 46.5 percent; Libertarian Bob Barr 1 percent; and independent Ralph Nader, 1 percent.
Ed Goeas, the Republican pollster, predicts Obama 50.2 percent, McCain 48.3 percent, Barr 0.9 percent, and Nader 0.6 percent.
Under either prediction, Obama would be the first Democrat to win a majority of the popular vote since Jimmy Carter in 1976 and would almost certainly be the next president.

Didn't Gore win the popular vote in 2000?
What about Gore?
I just completed an exhastive poll of hundreds of bloggers and friends across the country. Remember where you heard it first......here's how the popular vote will turn out:
Obama: 53%
McCain: 45%
others: 2%
Lef
Gore won the plurality, not the majority, because of Nader.
Wow...great fact checking Globe.
Gore had less than 50% of the popular vote in 2000.
Gore - 48.9%
Bush - 48.4%
Nader - 2.7%
Here we go again with the Dems drinking the same kool aid they drank the last two races. This is a sign of panic to the democrat party and we all know what happen to people that panic and nervous they embarrass themselves and look like fools the next day.
Last sentence rewritten for those who need help:
"Under either prediction, Obama would be the first Democrat to win more than 50% of the popular vote since Jimmy Carter in 1976 and would almost certainly be the next president."
I normally would have voted Republican, however, did not. Bush made that decision easy for me and McCain's choice of VP made it a "no brainer". This was a vote for the "other guy" so McCain would not be elected...and this thought process will get Obama elected today.
Ah, Gore won the popular vote in 2000.
In the first returns of the evening, Barack Obama has won Venezuela with 96% of the vote, Iran with 97% of the vote and North Korea with 102% of the vote there. Everyone voted for him in all three places without preconditions.
As a registered Republican, I was keen on McCain... That is until Palin was chosen as his running mate. I AM a hockey mom and I think she's a terrible choice. Just because someone could be my buddy doesn't mean they could be my leader. Then again, anyone who forces their underage child to marry because of an unwanted pregnancy wouldn't be my buddy for long either. There is nothing rational about a decision like that.
This morning, I voted for Obama. PROUDLY.

Sarah Palin is not ready to be the president of the United States, and neither is Obama, the difference is only one of them is running for president. America is going to make a bad mistake in this election (assuming Obama wins). McCain is the best man for the job, and it doesnt matter what Bush did.

What? It doesn't matter what Bush did??? Whoa -- what country are you living in?!
Saying "I am not voting for McCain because I don't like Bush" makes perfect sense... I mean, I am not voting Democrat because I didn't like the policies of Franklin Pierce. It makes perfect sense.
McCain certainly isn't ready to be president. He proved this with his ridiculous reaction to the economic crisis, as well as his admission that he knows next to nothing about economics - as well as with his full-throated support not just for launching the Iraq War but for escalating it. Yikes.
Anyway, it doesn't matter because Obama's got it won, but McCain was a terrible choice for Republican nominee and he compounded that mistake by picking Palin, who is barely qualified to run a cash register. Most Americans get that this is a problem since the guy at the top of the ticket predates the discovery of fire.
Obama never voted with Franklin Pierce nor defended him on TV.
P.S. Pierce was much more pro-slavery than Obama if you study up a bit.
It is so ridiculous how little mind this world is. Whites can slave blacks, but a African American male cant study and work just as hard to be president. Now thats sick... I voted for Obama today not because he black but his just studied a lot hard the McClain... VOTE OBAMA!!!!!
I am voting for Obama for reasons best known not only to the American people, but also to the entire World! Its time for change, and this is the right time to make the difference, fellows!
Mccain 08
OBAMA HAS NO CHANCE.. Mccain New he was going to be president 2 years ago... Its always planned..
barak osama or American veteran?? Hmmmm hard decision there.
Well, let's hope the people who are "proud" they voted for Obama remain proud when he turns America into a Socialist state.
Well, you voted for change; so, here it is: A quarter, 3 dimes, a nickle;
&, 3 pennies. Enjoy!
I'm going to agree with Chris, who posted comment #22.
Yeah, I'm so sure that a candidate who shattered every known record for campaign fundraising is going to "turn America into a Socialist state". This is the same person that's been endorsed by Warren Buffet. So, what exactly are you suggesting? Are the various corporate donors to the Obama campaign really socialistic? Oh my God! You're right! We've all been duped.
Last night was the first time in a long while that I have been proud of Americans. I think we made the right decision.
When I read the incredibly stupid comments of "Chris" (posted November 4, 08 04:26 PM) and "Al" (posted November 4, 08 06:37 PM), I feel pity for them and their stupidity, as well as embarrassment for our country. I wonder if Chris even knows what socialim means. Frankly, I'm shocked he can spell the word. Thankfully, McCain lost, and hopefully the era of Goldwater, Reagan and Bush are over. It's time we have a president who has a brain.
Amen, Chris.
The people forgot that we weren't voting for Bush/Cheney. That's in the past.
Be careful what you wish for.... You may get it.
OBAMA IS THE NEXT PRESIDENT! PERIOD. POINT BLANK. GIVE THE MAN HIS CREDIT. AND IF HE DOES MAKE A FEW MISTAKES IT CAN'T BE ANY WORSE THAN WHAT BUSH HAS SENT US THROUGH FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS. AT LEAST HE HAS AN INSIGHT OF A CHNAGE, BUSH AND MCCAIN WANTS TO KEEP EVERYTHING THE SAME. SO THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO KEEP GAS PRICES AT 5.00/GAL CONTINUE TO PUT YOUR FAITH IN BUSH AND MCCAIN AND GO TO THEIR HOUSE AND SEE IF THEY WILL GIVE YOU A LOAN TO PAY FOR YOUR GAS AND MORTGAGE. THANK YOU IGNORANT PEOPLE VERY MUCH, ITS NOT ABOUT THE COLOR, ITS ABOUT THE CHANGE! CONGRADULATIONS OBAMA FOR A JOB WELL DONE!
I have a difficult time voting for a gentleman who can't even check his own email. McCain touted experience and Judgment as his cornerstones. His pick of Palin fails for judgment, it's done nothing to hurt his campaign.
Plus the continued push to associate Obama with terrorism is just plain pathetic. I'm glad the American people finally wised up and didn't just believe what was repeated by the Republicans, as they have in the past.
It's amazing that despite the fact even the BUSH ADMINISTRATION has stated that Saddam had NOTHING to do with 911, that people still believe he did....
Comment #21. Really? Seriously though REALLY? Barak Osama thats quite clever, how bout this "McCain in the membrane, VOTE MCCAIN GOT NO BRIAN!"

tell me the popular vote in numbers not percents
Kool-Aide drinkers continue drinking your Kool-Aide; &, enjoy.
I will not be joining you. I don't drink Kool-Aide :)
Well, Jack, President Reagan was not a compromiser, as are The Presidents
Bush; &, candidate McCain.
America amazingly made an even greater mistake in this election than it did when Jimmy Carter, arguably one of the worst presidents in our history, was elected in 1976. Obama, who isn't even qualified to hold the Senate seat he lucked into, is the equivalent of Jimmy Carter with far less experience. It should scare anyone with at least half a brain (granted that probably excludes a lot of Americans) that one of the first "endorsements" of the election results came from Hugo Chavez, the viscious dictator of Venezula...God help us over the next 4 years and please send us another Ronald Reagan type to clean up the mess we'll have in 2012!
POPULAR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT DARLINGS THE COLLEGE ELECTORAL DOES. READ YOUR CONSTITUTION ,SO WHAT IF GORE WON THE POPULAR VOTE, BUSH WON THE COLLEGE ELECTORAL AND THATS WHAT COUNTS. GOT IT!
