McCain calls on Schilling for miracle comeback

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor November 1, 2008 02:38 PM

Hoping to pull off a miracle comeback, John McCain will call on someone who knows all about them in his final stop in New Hampshire on Sunday.

Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling -- he of the bloody sock in the 2004 American League Championship Series won by Boston after being down three games to none to the hated Yankees -- is scheduled to appear with McCain at a town hall event at Peterborough Town Hall.

McCain held one town hall after another to pull off a campaign-saving victory in the New Hampshire primary in January, and is now trailing Democrat Barack Obama in the state.

The doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the event is scheduled to last until 7:30 p.m.

UPDATE: Barack Obama will have a special guest as well on Sunday: rock legend Bruce Springsteen is scheduled to attend a rally in Cleveland.

Springsteen endorsed Obama during the Democratic primaries, and his post-9/11 anthem "The Rising" is a staple at Obama rallies.

Schilling of 2008 isn't Schilling of 2004 just like McCain of 2008 isn't McCain of 2000. Both take money for nothing and kiss Bush's ass.

Yeah, Curt Blowhard helped bring us eight years of Moron I, no doubt he'd like to reprise that by endorsing McPsycho and Caribou Barbie.

I guess the McCain camp doesn't really follow local sports. Because if they did, they'd realize that Curt Schilling is recognized as the biggest GOP blow hard around, not exactly someone that anyone respects.

Schilling is the same guy who used his 2004 World Series performance as a platform to endorse Bush/Cheney on Good Morning America, and immediately after game 4, he went for a ride like a school girl with Bush in Air Force One. Thanks Curt, we haven't forgotten.

McCain also picked up the endorsement of Dick Cheney today, so maybe Curt and Dick can reunite in NH and really seal the deal for McCain.

The only time I could stand Curt Shilling was when he was on the pitcher's mound not talking. I hope someone told he's suppose to be there!

Thats right nothing! you didnt make one pitch and your telling me hwo to live my life. I hope he goes away to an island somewhere and we never have to hear his annoying voice again.

And Callahan was a jock wannbe in high school BUT did not have the REAL talent to make it! Another idiot! I am so glad the Red Sox lost. I am still laughing. Dan S RULES. I hoep he drives Curt right out of town!!

to Cant-Stand-Curt:

If you hate the Red Sox just because of Curt, then you have some growing up to do!

I'm a Sox fan.. but who cares what Curt Schilling thinks as far as politics go?
He most certainly doesn't represent N.E.
Plus, he's a washed up old man.. just like McCain.

Sounds to me like "Can't-Stand-Curt" got in the wrong line on Career Day and has had a severe case of "the Green Eyed Monster" ever since if you ask me!

Curt Schilling fulfilled his role as the world's most expensive workmen's comp case in 2008. Now he wants us to vote for a candidate who will take us further into debt and war. Dear Curt: I look forward to your, and John McCain's, coming retirement.

Maybe Curt can hand over the bloody sock to McCain for good luck. Has anyone ever proven that was actually blood and not just a McDonald's ketchup pack he stabbed with his cleats for effect? I wouldn't put it past that low-life, attention seeking, obnoxious GOP suck-up SOB.

Schilling, get out of politics please. The GOP reeks of a stench so horrid only the truly brainwashed can't smell it.

So, why on earth would a good family man like yourself want to endorse a candidate whose first patriotic duty after returning from a prison camp was to desert his loyal wife and three children? Furthermore, this same man deserted his family only to shack up with a considerably younger and fabulously wealthy heiress to a beer fortune. Surely, as a family man you can discern a good father from a poor father. So, shut up already. You're a baseball pitcher, not a preacher and I think you have nothing to say if you can't spot the hypocrisy in the heart of the GOP.
