A movement ponders its future

Barack Obama's campaign today posted on its website photos from the "Change is Coming" organizing events it sponsored around the country the weekend before last, where supporters gathered to talk about where their movement is headed next. Obama's aides are still trying to figure out how to employ and engage the grass-roots network going forward, but it's clear the website itself is still a gathering place for discussion and debate.
"To think that spending 1 trillion dollars on new government spending is going to help the economy is not going to work," one commenter wrote, challenging Obama's plan for a massive economy stimulus package. "If you look at past recoveries it was when interest rates were low, personal and corporate taxes are lowered, and low capital gains taxes. If Senator Obama attempts to raise taxes it will have devastating effects on the economy."
Not all the commenters are discussing such weighty things, though. One, in a post titled "A little eye candy featuring our next POTUS," started a robust discussion thread by linking to this photo of Obama vacationing in Hawaii.
"Man! O's in excellent physical shape," one commenter wrote. "He really deserves this vacation and I hope he and his family will enjoy the rest. The Obamas have had two grueling years."
