Obama still in honeymoon period
The post-election goodwill continues for President-elect Barack Obama.
In a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released this morning, 79 percent of Americans approve of his performance during the transition so far and only 18 percent disapprove.
That approval rating is double digits higher than for George W. Bush or Bill Clinton at similar points in their pre-presidency, CNN says. And it is 51 percentage points higher than for Bush now, who has a 71 percent disapproval rating.
The poll also found that 79 percent believe Obama will do a good job as president -- up 4 percentage points from the CNN survey last month. Only 18 percent said they believe Obama will do a bad job -- down 3 percentage points from last month.
The new survey was conducted Dec. 1-2 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
