President-elect Barack Obama just sent his army of supporters what is purportedly an inside track to his inauguration to keep the grassroots flavor.

The online sign-up offers tickets, service opportunities, and local events.

"In the past, presidential inauguration events have too often focused on wealthy donors and Washington lobbyists. This year, every American will have a chance to be part of the inauguration," wrote Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe.

"Our country is facing great challenges, but we also have an unprecedented opportunity to bring change. Renewing America's promise begins with the idea that we rise or fall as one nation and one people. Barack and Joe hope that people all across this country will come together around the inauguration and share their passion for the change we need."
