Matthews staying put on air
Political junkies won't be missing the wit, guffaws, and sometimes head-scratching cultural and historical references of Chris Matthews anytime soon.
The commentator and host of "Hardball" on MSNBC told his staff Wednesday that he won't run for US Senate in Pennsylvania after all, several media outlets are reporting.
Matthews -- who admitted post-election that he was partial to Barack Obama, readily apparent during the campaign -- had been mulling a campaign against Republican Senator Arlen Specter in 2010.
Matthews, a former top aide to then House Speaker Thomas "Tip" O'Neill of Massachusetts, ran for a northeast Philadelphia congressional seat in 1974 but lost the Democratic primary.

It always amazes me when somebody who has never really done anything makes the news by announcing that he has decided on something else to not do. I know that there are double, perhaps triple negatives in the above, but do you catch my drift people?
Too bad. He would make a great candidate. The guy really cares about his country.
I think Chris Matthews would make a fine public servant, yes I understand what you mean William and indeed, too bad he isn't going to run.
So, the rightwingnuts want a commedian for a Senator. What, to offset the wit and wisdom of Minnesota's Senatot Franken?
Thank God! All we would have needed is more of this ilk running our country.
