Obama: tight noose on bin Laden as good as capture

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor January 14, 2009 07:17 PM

After the Sept. 11 terror attacks, President Bush vowed to smoke out Osama bin Laden and bring him back "dead or alive" -- like those Old West wanted posters.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain liked to say he would follow bin Laden to "the gates of hell" -- and at one campaign stop at a New Hampshire gun factory, offered to use one of their products to do away with the al Qaeda leader.

In an interview that aired tonight on CBS, President-elect Barack Obama, even as he called al Qaeda the biggest threat to national security, took a more measured approach.

"I think that we have to so weaken his infrastructure that, whether he is technically alive or not, he is so pinned down that he cannot function," Obama said. "My preference obviously would be to capture or kill him. But if we have so tightened the noose that he's in a cave somewhere and can't even communicate with his operatives then we will meet our goal of protecting America."

In a recording released today on an Islamist website, bin Laden described Obama as the heir to President Bush's failed policies and said he would "inherit a long guerrilla war against a patient, stubborn adversary" and warned that al Qaeda would open "more fronts."

Hey Dhimmicrats---there's the NO CHANGE you can believe in! Weren't we constantly told by Obama, Kerry, Reid, Gore and the Dummycrats on Capitol Hill that if only a Democrat were president, why bin Laden would be certainly captured. Bush let us down, you said. Now Obama gets a dose of reality in these pre-inauguration intelligence reports and the new talking point is, "Well, we don't have to look for bin Laden...he's all bottled up and that's as good as a capture."

"No Change from Bush". Bet you didn't see that slogan on your buttons and bumper stickers!

Suckers.

"WE have so weakened"???? Obama voted against the troop surge which ended up being the single most important factor in reducing the influence of al Qaeda.

More suckers for the mantra "change". Tell me how this new Obama policy differs from the Bush Administration's approach to capture, kill, or contain bin Laden. After all the Gore, Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, and Obama blather about how GWB dropped the ball on bin Laden, here we have the Dhimmi-crats giving up the hunt for the world's #1 terrorist.

You suckers that thought Obama really was going to "change" anything deserve the moron you just elected.

Well, BHO, we've already put that noose on him. But you're refusal to bring this mass murderer to justice proves what I feared all along. You are much more concerned with political expediency, expanding the Federal government, and entrenching the Democratic party.

You clearly don't care about those Americans who died as a result of a mass murderer. Unbelievable. What makes me think he wouldn't have said the same thing about Hitler?

I thought he advocated invading the Warzsistan region of Pakistan to hunt and capture or kill Osama. At least that was what he slammed the Bush Admin for. Oh, that was the campain Obama. I think he's stolen Kerry's Waffle King crown.

Apparently this is one of the Globe's famous "No Comments Allowed" articles unless they worship at the throne of a Democrat.

Bin Laden is still hiding in that cave somewhere. Even though Bush and Cheney couldnt smoke him out of that cave, Its got to be freezing cold at 14,000 feet during the night. I wonder how he's been heating this cave for the past 7 years? There must be Afghani rebels that bring him firewood by riding Yaks up the mountain along with his supplies. I wonder if he's upgraded his cell phone service and uses penny talk. I hear it only costs 14 cents a minute up there.

It's funny how Obabma took a more "measured approach." That is NOT what President Obama spoke about during the campaign. Weird how that campaign promise was left out. Anyway, why would we want to know what Bin Laden's status is? Let's see: Bin Laden is announced captured: Every American in anyplace that has Bin Laden sympathizers is in danger of being kidnapped. Can you imagine waking up every day with another American having there head cut off on TV? You know we will not release him, so that is the alternative. Ok, the U.S. has announced Bin Laden has been killed. Now, he is the greatest martyr since Ali. On top of that, you let Al Queda know that one of their major people have been killed, and they will consolidate and cover down. Never let the enemy know something they are in the dark about.
