Romney to endorse Whitman
WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney will endorse the nascent campaign of Meg Whitman, a longtime friend and former Bain & Co. colleague seeking the Republican nomination for governor of California next year.
The two will appear together at the party's state convention in Sacramento on Saturday, and aides to each said Romney will formally give his blessing to the effort, which has already attracted top Romney aides -- including Don Stirling and Spencer Zwick, known as the former governor's "sixth son" -- and some of his leading fundraisers.
"You can expect he will fully endorse her campaign for governor," said Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom.
