Democrats: Same old, same old GOP
Two key members of the Bush team and a former Republican House speaker are all over cable TV these days bashing President Obama.
So Democrats are trying to boomerang the issue by arguing in a new video, starting today first on the web, that the three -- Vice President Dick Cheney, strategist Karl Rove, and former Speaker Newt Gingrich -- represent the Republican party, and not the current leadership in Congress or other high-profile leaders.
"With Republican leaders in Congress in total disunity and disarray, the likes of Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich and Dick Cheney are launching the same old tired attacks and pursing the politics of division that the American people have grown weary of. With a nation calling for change, the new faces of the Republican party are the same as the old faces of the Republican party," the Democratic National Committee says.
"Introducing The New Faces Of The GOP," it says on screen before a red curtain opens to show Rove, Gingrich, then Cheney with vaudeville music playing in the background.
"Meet The New GOP," it says on screen at the end. "Same As The Old GOP."
