The path to high court
As the sound and fury from advocacy groups surrounds her nomination, Judge Sonia Sotomayor embarked today on the less exciting, but time-tested path to get to the Supreme Court.
She started calling key senators today, including the Democratic chairman and ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will hold her confirmation hearing. Next week, she will make courtesy calls to meet influential senators in person, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said today.
And Sotomayor has a 10-page questionnaire to digest. Released by the committee, the form asks for personal, financial, and employment information in excruciating detail and for copies of all her writings, speeches, interviews, and opinions. To see the questionnaire, click here.
