Schilling passes on Senate bid
If there were any doubt, former Red Sox great Curt Schilling seems to have definitely ruled out a run for the US Senate seat in Massachusetts.
He had been encouraged to seek the Republican nomination in December by Senator John McCain, the 2008 GOP presidential nominee whom Schilling stumped for, among others.
But on HBO's "Joe Buck Live" on Tuesday night, Schilling shut the door. "Regardless of the amount of support and outreach that's been given to me, it just did not make sense," he said.
That leaves state Representative Scott Brown as the most prominent candidate on the Republican side.
Schilling, while not running, isn't putting a lid on his outspokenness.
"I think the country is sick and tired of elected officials beholden to special interests," he said on HBO. "I think we're at a time and a place where we're voting for the lesser of two evils instead of the best candidate."
