President Obama might be the target of brickbats from both the political left and right.
But he's not a political "loser" for 2009, at least according to a new Gallup Poll released today.
In the survey, 58 percent of respondents rated Obama as a winner. And two women in his inner circle -- first lady Michelle Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton -- drew the best marks, with 73 percent saying they considered Michelle Obama a political winner and 70 percent saying that of Clinton.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and congressional Republicans did not fare as well: 50 percent rated the top congressional Democrat a loser, while 52 percent tagged Republicans as losers.
Those with the worst numbers: Representative "You lie!" Joe Wilson at 61 percent loser, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford (he of the Argentinian mistress) at 63 percent, and the Salahis, the White House party-crashers, at 70 percent.
The poll, conducted Dec. 11-13, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
