FBI message to Hoover included glib remark on Kennedy

Among the just-released files compiled by the FBI about the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy is a 1968 Western Union message to FBI director J. Edgar Hoover written by an FBI official, apparently in response to press reports that Kennedy would be attending the launching of the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy, but had not requested special protection.

The letter included the passage: "...please make sure that Ted Kennedy gets all the protection he needs We are down to one Kennedy..."
