The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning Sunday night for central Berkshire County in western Massachusetts, after a tornado was reported near Pittsfield at about 7:26 p.m.

The NWS had earlier issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of central and western Massachusetts, northern Connecticut and southern New Hampshire, effective through 9 p.m. Sunday.

In Massachusetts, Worcester, Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties were included in the warning.
Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties were affected in Connecticut, and in New Hampshire, Cheshire and Hillsborough counties were included in the warning.

The storms included heavy rains, strong winds and the possibility of hail. The Boston area was expected to see strong thunderstorms late Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening.
