Update: Google Talk is back. In a 11:25 a.m. announcement, Google said:
The problem with Google Talk should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.
Google Talk, the search-engine giant's chatting program commonly called GChat, has been showing an outage since 6:50 a.m.
If you're a user of the messaging system that shows up in your GMail, all you're going to see right now is a sad "Loading ..." where your friends' names normally are.
At 6:50 a.m., Google gave this announcement:
We're aware of a problem with Google Talk affecting a majority of users. The affected users are able to access Google Talk, but are seeing error messages and/or other unexpected behavior.
