'Binders full of women' is a social media hit
In response to a question about equal pay for women in the workplace during the second Presidential debate, both candidates spoke about personal experiences. President Obama cited the struggles of his mother and grandmother. Mitt Romney talked about offering flexible work hours for women once they were hired.
Romney also went on to say that, as the governor of Massachusetts searching for qualified women to fill cabinet posts, women’s groups brought him “binders full of women” who were good candidates. The comment went viral. #BindersFullofWomen became a trending topic on Twitter, and @RomneyBinders Twitter account, attracted more than 30,000 followers. Romney's comment also spawned a "Binders Full Of Women" Tumblr account, and a "Binders Full Of Women" Facebook page got more than 200,000 likes.
