Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick today asked schools and private businesses to close tomorrow due to Hurricane Sandy.
Patrick spoke at a news conference at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency in Framingham.
He said non-emergency state workers are also being asked to stay home tomorrow and that state office buildings will be closed Monday due to the storm.
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority plans to operate tomorrow as long as its safe to do so, Patrick said.
He added regional shelters are opening by 8 p.m. in Fall River, Weymouth, and Newbury.
