According to multiple reports, an FBI special agent fatally shot a suspect who may have known deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

In a WESH-TV report, the victim was identified by a friend as Ibragim Todashev, who the friend said knew Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters.

The station reported the friend said he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI yesterday, and that Todashev was being questioned in connection with the bombings.

Additionally, The New York Times is reporting this morning that the man shot by an agent was interviewed in recent weeks by the FBI about his ties to Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

This morning, the FBI released the following statement:

We are currently responding to a shooting incident involving an FBI special agent. The incident occurred in Orlando Florida. The agent encountered the suspect while conducting official duties. The suspect is deceased. We do not have any further details at this time. We expect to have more information later this morning.
