Reza Aslan, a religious scholar and author of the book Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, appeared on FoxNews.com's Spirited Debate on Friday and was questioned by anchor Lauren Green about how his Muslim faith affected his ability to fairly write a book on Christianity.

Green began the interview by asking, "You're a Muslim, so why did you write a book about the founder of Christianity?"

She continued to focus on Aslan's religion rather than the contents of the book, to which Aslan responded, "I do think it's perhaps a little bit strange that rather than debating the arguments of the book we are debating the right of the scholar to actually write it."
