The editorial board of the New York Times wants New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner to bow out of the race, now that he has admitted to sending more lewd messages after the sexting scandal that forced him to resign from Congress two years ago.

From the New York Times editorial:

"...the serially evasive Mr. Weiner should take his marital troubles and personal compulsions out of the public eye, away from cameras, off the Web and out of the race for mayor of New York City."

Weiner indicated yesterday that he intends to stay in the race, and the response from the Times editorial:

"Mr. Weiner says he is staying in the mayoral race. To those who know his arrogance and have grown tired of the tawdry saga he has dragged the city into, this is not surprising."
