There's a Sharknado headed for Boston this weekend.

Special midnight screenings of the TV movie-turned-viral sensation that swept across Twitter last month are being held at select area theaters. Audiences will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes featurette and a gag reel featuring outtakes from the film.

Nearly 1.37 million viewers tuned in to watch the film's initial airing on July 11th and the campy disaster flick quickly gained traction on social media, generating nearly 5,000 tweets per minute at its peak.

Cable channel SyFy and studio The Asylum were quick to cash-in on the success, re-airing the film and partnering with a brand-licensing agency to produce Sharknado merchandise. A sequel is already in the works.
