The FBI released security footage today of alleged Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis as he navigated the facility carrying a weapon and ducking behind walls.

Alexis, a 34-year-old former Navy reservist and IT contractor, allegedly opened fire inside a building at the Washington Navy Yard on Sept. 16, killing 12 people. He was killed in a shootout with police.

The Navy released documents detailing the history of Alexis' military career. He received an Honorable discharge, and was issued a Navy Reserve Identification and Privilege card in February 2011.

Alexis reportedly stayed in Thai Buddhist temple in Raynham in mid-August. He also visited a Veterans Affairs hospital in Providence, R.I. and complained of insomnia.
