For years, students have taken a ride on a giant pendulum statue, a 42-inch steel ball that hangs from a 50-foot cable at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. But, the statue was removed by the school for "safety reasons."

All because of Miley Cyrus' music video "Wrecking Ball," where she swings naked on a ball similar to the one at GVSU. The university has seen an influx of students doing the same thing, and officials decided to take it down. "We've been reviewing this over the last couple of weeks, trying to decide whether we really need to look at structural integrity of the installation," said Tim Thimmesch, the associate vice president of facilities. Students are now protesting the removal of the wrecking ball.
