The Starbucks knock-off "Dumb Starbucks" that made it's LA debut last weekend may be opening a new store in Brooklyn, NY, soon.

Nathan Fielder, the comedian behind Comedy Central's Nathan for You, revealed he was behind the mock shop. In a press conference in front of the store Monday, Fielder announced that Brooklyn would get its own Dumb Starbucks.

The store is a parody of Starbucks coffee shop which opened over the weekend on Hillhurst Ave. in LA. The menu and other offerings are similar to the Starbucks menu, but just have the word "dumb" written before everything.

The parody shop was shut down by Los Angeles County Health Department Monday for health violations.

People waited in the Dumb Starbucks line for nearly an hour when it opened.

So how is this "dumb" store avoiding a legal trouble by the real Starbucks? According to its Frequently Asked Question sheet it's giving its customers, the shop is protected under the parody law, meaning that its technically categorized as an art gallery, and its coffee is considered the "work of art."

Starbucks says it has contacted the mock store, the Associated Press reported.

‘‘We are evaluating next steps, and while we appreciate the humor, they cannot use our name, which is a protected trademark," spokeswoman Laurel Harper told the Associated Press.

Fielder didn't disclose where exactly the parody shop would open in Brooklyn, but we suspect DUMBO sounds like the right place to start.
