Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, who is in a last ditch effort to negotiate a compromise between an openly gay group of veterans and the South Boston Saint Patrickís Day Parade organizers, told WCVB-TV on Saturday that he won't participate in the event if an 11th hour deal isn't reached.

Walsh echoed a similar sentiment on Thursday as reported by the Boston Herald:

ďI think there has been some miscommunication on both sides and I was hoping that as cooler heads prevailed we would be able to come to a compromise."

Walsh added via a WCVB tweet that the debate was not in step with the times:

As the clock winds down - with a Sunday start time of 1 p.m. for the South Boston parade - NECN reported Walsh will announce his final decision on his participation on Saturday.

"The controversy is ... itís really not controversy," NECN reported the mayor saying. "Itís stubbornness at this point and itís time to stop being stubborn.Ē
