TIMELINE

Note

James Crocker has temporarily suspended his campaign because of the recent death of his wife's parents in an automobile accident. He distributed this statement:

"Those who know me know that above all, I am a family man. Tragically, my wife's mother and father were killed in a single-car accident as they headed from Wareham to their home in Arlington after the holiday weekend. My mother-in-law, Joan, was pronounced dead at the scene. My father-in-law, Robert, had been driving their handicapped van when he apparently suffered a medical crisis. He passed at Mass. General Hospital a few hours after the crash with his family at his side.

"As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for my wife Gail and my two daughters. Joan and Robert were blessed with a long life together, and we are comforted that they left this life together, but the sudden nature of this is an awful lot for us to bear.

"I will be halting my campaign activities leading up to the funeral, which we expect will be Saturday in Arlington, in an effort to help my family cope with this tragedy. From a campaign perspective, with the election just weeks away, the timing is obviously difficult, but my family needs me right now. I will return to the campaign trail as soon as possible, with the continued vigor I have had thus far."

State pensions

The foundation also proposed changes in state and municipal pensions, such as increasing the retirement age and capping annual pensions at $100,000. Do you agree?
