Subject: Assumption of Command Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2005 12:54:09 +0000

Ladies and Gentlemen, As of today 10 JAN 05 at 1100 hours, at Camp Falcon in Baghdad, Iraq, I assumed Command of Alpha Company 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry, part of Task Force 1-5 CAV.
This was a very big day for me personally, it has been a long time in coming. (almost 28 Months) I'm fortunate to have an excellent group of soldiers to lead. And although this day has been delayed twice before due to the situation here, and has been a long time in coming, I'm glad to have the chance for even this brief remaining time here. It's good to be a real soldier again and be able to do something that matters before leaving here.
Hope all is well on your side of the world. Should be back there before March.
     Take care,
     Chris
