Big Dig traffic

Measures that state transportation officials are taking to lessen traffic congestion after Labor Day, since the Interstate 90 connector tunnel will still be closed:

Adding off-peak service on the MBTA's Orange and Blue lines.

Adding trips on the Green and Red lines if crowding becomes a problem.

Adding several mid day commuter trains from South Station to the Route 128 station, from North Station to Anderson Regional Transportation Center in Woburn, and from North Station to Salem.

Adding extra rush-hour service on the Quincy commuter boat service to Logan International Airport.

Asking employers to adopt flexible work schedules.

Deferring daytime state and city road maintenance projects.

Limiting lane closures on Storrow Drive during events near the Hatch Shell.
