PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Crisis counseling is available for Rhode Islanders feeling stressed and overwhelmed by Superstorm Sandy.
Federal and state officials say residents who are dealing with the stress of recovering from the storm may call a special Disaster Distress Helpline. It’s staffed by trained counselors who can help direct individuals to other resources and services if necessary.
Counselors are available at 800-985-5990. Those seeking help may also text ‘‘TalkWithUs’’ to 66746.
Officials say property damage is obvious but disasters can take their toll in other ways.
