PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Portland Fire Chief Jerome LaMoria says there were some hairy moments at the height of the snowstorm when a man fell into the harbor while checking on his boat.
LaMoria says a pair of dock workers who were making the rounds during the blizzard heard the man shouting for help at about 3 a.m. Saturday near DiMillo’s restaurant.
LaMoria says it’s unclear whether the man slipped or was blown into the harbor. He says firefighters had difficulty because of the slippery conditions and 50 mph wind gusts.
LaMoria called the conditions ‘‘the worst of the worst.’’
The victim was treated for hypothermia.
