DENNIS, Mass. (AP) — Officials in an eastern Cape Cod town say last week’s massive snow storm eroded beach front that must now be repaired.

The Cape Cod Times reports (http://bit.ly/11QHnCo ) that the Feb. 8-9 storm eroded 15 to 20 feet of beachfront and washed out half a road.

The town is considering doubling the percentage, to 40 percent, of proceeds from the sale of off-road vehicle permits to a Barrier Beach Protection Stabilization Fund.

Dennis Selectman Wayne Bergeron says officials want to keep the town’s three beaches from disappearing. But Selectman Heidi Schadt worries that the cost of hauling more sand and conducting dredging operations at a barrier beach may be prohibitive.
