PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Mainers are digging out from a winter storm that dumped up to a foot of snow across parts of the state.

The National Weather Service says Cumberland got 13 inches of heavy, wet snow in Sunday’s storm, with Portland and Gray getting a foot. While southern and central Maine felt the brunt of the storm, virtually the entire state got some snow.

Central Maine Power Co. reported that more than 2,000 business and homes were without electricity Monday morning.

The weather service says more snow and rain are expected Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.end of story marker
