It’s the middle of March, but somehow, more snow is in the forecast.

A storm system making its way out of the midwest will arrive on Wednesday evening, bringing with it 1 to 3 inches of snow for much of northern New England, with rain falling throughout the rest of the region.

Of course, most of us will be looking forward to the day after the storm. Thursday’s March Equinox will mark the beginning of spring, with high temperatures expected to reach into the low 50’s.

But don’t be fooled, that won’t last long.

This week’s sunshine may culminate into a lovely Thursday afternoon, but the cold is already set to return over the weekend and into early next week. Temperatures will steadily decrease, a mix of rain and snow will arrive on Saturday, and the projected high’s will bottom out just below freezing on Monday and Tuesday.

So don’t pack away your winter jacket just yet. Spring may nominally arrive on Thursday, but the weather seems to have no interest in complying.
