Multifaith service slated today at Trinity Church

Christians, Jews, and Muslims plan to gather at 12:15 p.m. today at Trinity Church in Copley Square for a multifaith service to pray for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Among those expected to participate are Episcopal Bishop M. Thomas Shaw; Roman Catholic Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley; the Rev. Hurmon E. Hamilton, a Presbyterian pastor who is co-president of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization; and the Rev. Ray Hammond, an African Methodist Episcopal Church pastor who is chairman of the Boston TenPoint Coalition.

The collection taken at the service will be donated to an American Red Cross hurricane relief fund.

Also, a city clothing drive for Katrina victims will start in conjunction with the service. New clothes, toiletries, and baby items can be dropped off at community centers from tomorrow until Sept. 23.
