A severe storm moving through the eastern third of the country Saturday was expected to bring rain and snow to the upper Midwest and Great Lakes.

The storm's cold front was passing through the Southeast and into the Mid-Atlantic, possibly bringing more severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center said there was a moderate risk of severe weather in the lower Mississippi Valley and a slight risk from the central Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley.

By day's end, the northern edge of the cold front was expected reach New England, causing rain there.

Meanwhile, rain was also anticipated in western Washington and Oregon.

The Northeast was forecast to rise into the 60s, while the Southeast was to see temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The upper Midwest was expected to rise into the 40s and 50s, while the southern Plains were to rise into the 80s and 90s. The Northwest was likely to rise into the 60s and 70s, while the Southwest was to see temperatures in the 80s and 90s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of 9 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 100 degrees at Laredo, Texas.
