Snowfall, wind crush coast

The Blizzard of 2005 delivered a staggering blow to much of Eastern Mass., dropping more than 3 feet of snow in some places and whipping it into towering drifts with howling gusts that topped 80 miles per hour.
Like people throughout Eastern Massachusetts, Jackie Ranta worked Jan. 23 to excavate her car, half hidden under a snowdrift along the Lynnway.

Cape Cod still reeling from blizzard as region digs out

State roads were treacherous, hundreds of houses were without electricity, and people were stuck outside and inside their homes yesterday in parts of Cape Cod, hit hard by the Blizzard of 2005.
