The first nor'easter is now over and the last high tide to produce flooding is receding. Overall, the snow amounts were most impressive inside Route 95 and much less west of Route 495.

The bitter cold will steal the headlines from the snow for the rest of the weekend with highs today only in the single number and lower teens and lows overnight falling below zero across much of the region. The cold may do some damage to some flowering trees and shrubs, but we won't know the extent of any problems for a few months.

Wind chill advisories are posted for the areas in light blue as frost bite conditions remain in the forecast through early Saturday. A slow warming trend takes place tomorrow afternoon with above freezing weather by Sunday. Our next storm Sunday night and Monday will be in the form of rain, although there can be some snow or sleet at the start of the storm.

A cold arctic wind returns for Tuesday and Wednesday before it becomes more seasonable at the end of the week.

The images below show how much snow fell. Since this was a windy storm with lots of snow bands, the amounts you see in your own backyard can be very different even in the reported town.

I'll be updating the forecast for the next storm on Twitter @growingwisdom. Please follow me there.
