Our storm is now pulling away to the north and east of the area and the rain is all but done. One of the reasons I didn’t want you to cancel outdoor plans from mid-morning onward is that we have a reasonably nice day for Saturday and even a better one for tomorrow. There are still flood watches and warnings up for some small streams and rivers, but I expect those to come down during the morning and early afternoon. Torrential rain will continue for several hours overnight. This has prompted flood warnings to be issued for nearly the entire southern New England area. These warnings are mostly for small stream and not big river flooding. Please be sure to check your sump pumps and if you are prone to flooding you may want to elevate any important material off the basement floor. This is going to be a system that causes urban flooding problems more than anything else. At times the rain will come down at impressive rates and make travel difficult. Don’t cancel the weekend plans. That is my advice for the upcoming weekend. We do have rain on the way, but most of the weekend is going to be dry and rain free. Let’s get right to the overview and then I will give you the specifics and try to break down both days as best as possible.
