Unsettled weather with big temperature swings
After a stormy weekend last weekend across the nation’s mid-section I blogged about how tornadoes form and why we don’t see them much across New England. Little did I realize over the next two days one of the stronger tornadoes to hit the United States would destroy much of Moore Oklahoma and that southern New England would have our own tornado warnings.
FULL ENTRYThe wonderment of spring
What a morning. Did you get a chance to notice just how amazing the start of this day was? I know that rushing around getting ready for work, getting the kids out the door, and all the other hecticness of the morning doesn’t leave much time to appreciate spring.
I'll be updating the forecast throughout the week on Twitter at @growingwisdom Please follow me there. Feel free to comment or ask questions too.
FULL ENTRYSuper beach day Sunday, wet Monday
Thunderstorms have now ended across New England. Some of these storms were strong to severe and caused minor damage. There were reports of heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and lots of lightning. The rest of the overnight should be calm with lowering humidity levels and clearing skies. This will set us up for a wonderful day on Sunday before more unsettled weather moves back in for the start of the new work week. Check with me on @growingwisdom as I update there frequently.
FULL ENTRYCool, breezy and damp for several days
A persistent flow of cool damp air around an ocean storm will pinwheel clouds, showers and drizzle over our area for the next few days. The weather will improve slowly Wednesday and Thursday with a return to some sunshine. Temperatures will be below normal at the start of the week before reaching back to the lower and middle 70s for the weekend. By the way, if you think this is bad down here. Try being at the top of Mount Washington this morning. They are shoveling snow and sleet up there. I hope you aren't planning a hike this morning to the summit.

Showers ending overnight, better Sunday
After a rainy Saturday, something we have not seen much of this entire year, it looks like there will be some improvement for Sunday. A storm over the Midwest is helping to spin moisture up the coastline and into New England. As the storm moves east it will temporarily weaken and the rain will let up for Sunday. On Monday, the same storm will help to re-energize a new stormy area to our and east. This new storm will bring us more showers and continued cool temperatures.
FULL ENTRYSunshine from Boston to Detroit
A bright and cooler afternoon is on the menu for the rest of the day. Clouds will continue billow up and block the sun at times making it feel chilly. Temperatures will be cooler this afternoon than they were yesterday by as much as 10 degrees. Highs around 3pm this afternoon will be in the lower and middle 50s. Winds will be brisk and moisture levels will continue to be low. The weather in Detroit looks similar with bright sunshine and dry conditions.
FULL ENTRYGreat afternoon, pollen count increasing, no rain
Another afternoon of sunshine and mild temperatures. Winds are going to be brisk this afternoon but it will still be a nearly perfect April day. Now that the trees are leafing out, pollen is increasing each day. Pollen tends to be highest in the morning, but with a steady breeze this afternoon it will remain high. It's a great day to take a walk or bring the coffee outside, you just might need to take your allergy medicine with that afternoon java.
