Youíve been hearing about the weekend weather for the past few days and by now I am sure you know it wonít be perfect. Cool and wet is the theme for this yearís Memorial Day weekend although itís not a 3 day washout by any measure. It is rather muggy and warm this morning, colder air will filter into the region during the day. This is going to set up a very chilly pair of days this weekend. Today will end up being the wettest of the next three days with some heavy downpours, especially over southeastern Massachusetts.

After a stormy weekend last weekend across the nationís mid-section I blogged about how tornadoes form and why we donít see them much across New England. Little did I realize over the next two days one of the stronger tornadoes to hit the United States would destroy much of Moore Oklahoma and that southern New England would have our own tornado warnings.FULL ENTRY
The weather forecast for the next 5 to 7 days looks so wonderful it makes me nervous. You might think what would make you nervous about sunshine and dry weather? There are two things. First, this time of year a full week of no rain isn't good for agriculture. We are going to finish April with a rain deficit and this will be the second month, since the start of the year, without adequate moisture. While the landscape is greening, it wonít take long for drought to rear its ugly head. I probably get overly concerned about the rain, but as a gardener thatís where my head goes.

Welcome to spring. I know the world looks like the middle of January for many of us this morning, but just after 7 AM astronomical spring arrived. A question I got quite a bit yesterday was ďare we done with winter?Ē Other folks asked me why this winter has been so different from last yearís. I think the answer to both of those questions is related, so let me briefly address them.I'll be updating my weather forecast for the rest of this week on Twitter at @growingwisdom please follow me there.
