Somewhere in a box of papers I have a piece of work I did on my first day of Kindergarten from this week back in September 1969. I remember well that exercise of learning to write my name. Miss Allen had already printed David Epstein at the top of the yellow paper and I was to copy the letters on the blank lines below.FULL ENTRY
Another super August weekend is underway across the region. When the summer of 2013 is over we will remember the rain of June, the humidity of July and the spectacular weather of August. As horrible as June was this year, August is making up for it in spades. The fine weather is going to continue for the next week with barely an interruption in the sunshine.I'll be updating the details of the weather on Twitter at @growingwisdom Please follow me there. Torrential rain will continue for several hours overnight. This has prompted flood warnings to be issued for nearly the entire southern New England area. These warnings are mostly for small stream and not big river flooding. Please be sure to check your sump pumps and if you are prone to flooding you may want to elevate any important material off the basement floor. This is going to be a system that causes urban flooding problems more than anything else. At times the rain will come down at impressive rates and make travel difficult. Don’t cancel the weekend plans. That is my advice for the upcoming weekend. We do have rain on the way, but most of the weekend is going to be dry and rain free. Let’s get right to the overview and then I will give you the specifics and try to break down both days as best as possible.
