ZIMBABWE
HARARE - Aid agencies won approval yesterday to resume distributing food in Zimbabwe. Oxfam and Save the Children said a government ban had been lifted after almost three months. The governing party had ordered the ban, accusing outside groups of supporting opposition activists before a presidential runoff. AP)

PAKISTAN
30 militants dead in raid on hideouts
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's army said it killed 30 militants in fighting yesterday in the country's volatile northwest. The men died when the military, backed by fighter jets, destroyed hideouts in Swat Valley, Army spokesman Major Nasir Ali said today. Swat has been the scene of intensified military action against Al Qaeda and Taliban-linked militants in recent weeks. (AP)

BRITAIN
Court delays ruling on detainee rights
LONDON - A British court yesterday gave Foreign Secretary David Miliband a week to justify his decision to suppress secret documents that lawyers for a Guantanamo detainee argue could prove their client was tortured in Morocco. The High Court ruling came in the case of Binyam Mohamed, a British resident who was captured in Pakistan in April 2002 and is accused by the United States of conspiring with Al Qaeda leaders to attack civilians. QUEBEC
Cheese suspected in disease outbreak
MONTREAL - The Quebec health department said yesterday that 87 cases of salmonellosis have been reported across the province, with one death. The Food and Agriculture Ministry has recalled some brands of cheese that are a suspected source. (AP)
