In a remote part of eastern Afghanistan, blood stains the back seat of a bullet-riddled car, where two female journalists had been sitting. They were shot by an Afghan policeman on Friday in Khost, on the eve of a presidential election. He killed 48-year-old Anja Niedringhaus, a veteran Associated Press photographer. Her reporter colleague, Kathy Gannon, seen here on Canadian TV, was wounded in the attack and taken to the provincial hospital. A hospital official briefed the press.
