North Korea reports rapid progress on nuclear reactor
North Korea reported brisk progress in building a new nuclear reactor and producing enriched uranium as fuel yesterday, and proposed allowing inspectors from the U.N. nuclear agency to verify its peaceful purposes. The statement is the latest sign that North Korea is pressing ahead with its nuclear program. Washington has been urging the country to stop it for fear that the North’s new facilities could be used to build nuclear bombs.
