
Sherman, 21, was a 2006 graduate of Plymouth South High School, where he was known for his spontaneity and for being the "nut in the class," according to a friend. He loved his tattoos and played the drums and listened to the hardest of metal music. Sherman, who joined the Army right after high school, and his wife, Patricia, 21, were expecting their first child in March and recently bought a house in North Carolina, where he was based. A paratrooper with the Fourth Brigade Combat Team of the 82d Airborne Division, he was serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Sherman and another soldier disappeared Nov. 4 while trying to retrieve supplies dropped into a river, and his body was later recovered.
