Central Portugal Forest Fire Under Control - Others Still Burn

It took more than 500 firefighters most of Monday afternoon (August 25) before authorities in central Portugal were able to declare the Pampilhosa da Serra forest fire under control. Several aircraft and helicopters joined the battle during the afternoon. The village had been partially evacuated. Similar blazes are still burning out of control in the south of the country, fuelled by record temperatures and drought conditions. Sixteen people has been killed.
