Bombardier gets Swiss train order
MONTREAL --Bombardier Transportation and its Alstom Transport partner have won an order to supply 13 multiple unit commuter trains to Swiss railway operator BLS AG in a contract valued at $74 million.
Bombardier said Wednesday the company's share of the deal is valued at about $49 million.
The trains will be built by Bombardier Transportation in Villeneuve, Switzerland. Alstom will develop traction equipment and passenger information systems.
The first of the new vehicles are set to be delivered in the spring of 2008 to BLS AG, the second-largest rail transport operator in Switzerland.
Bombardier Transportation is based in Berlin and has a presence in more than 60 countries.
Parent company Bombardier Inc. is Canada's only aircraft manufacturer and had revenue for the fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2006 of $14.7 billion.![]()
