Terror suspect loses extradition fight

LONDON --A man wanted for alleged involvement in the Madrid train bombings should be extradited to Spain, Britain's highest court decided Wednesday.

Five Law Lords -- Britain's supreme appeal judges -- rejected arguments by lawyers fighting the extradition on behalf of Moutaz Almallah Dabas.

Defense lawyers had argued that the European arrest warrant under which the Spanish citizen was detained was invalid because its wording did not comply with the requirements of the 2003 Extradition Act.

Syrian-born Dabas was arrested in 2005 in Slough, west of London. An extradition warrant issued by Spain alleged that he helped manage a group of radical Muslims that included some of the Madrid bombers. He had previously appealed his extradition to Britain's Court of Appeal.

Twenty-nine people are on trial in Madrid in connection with the March 11, 2004, attacks, which killed 191 people.
